Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about professional metal detection and recovery in Nebraska and Iowa.

Can I rent a metal detector in Omaha or Nebraska instead of hiring a specialist?

A rental machine takes time to learn and can be difficult to use effectively in trash-heavy or mineralized soil. Hiring an experienced recovery specialist on a reward basis can be a faster alternative: I bring professional multi-frequency equipment directly to your location and search for the item with you.

What areas do you serve?

I serve all of Nebraska and all of Iowa. Whether you're in Omaha, Lincoln, Des Moines, Plattsmouth, Sioux City, or anywhere in between, I can travel to you. Same-day availability depends on scheduling and travel distance.

How does pricing work?

Lost item recovery (rings, jewelry, watches, and similar items) is performed on a reward basis—you decide the value of the recovery once your item is returned.

Property marker identification is $75 per detectable marker. It is not a land survey or legal boundary determination.

Junk metal cleanup is $89 per hour.

Is property marker identification a legal survey?

No. I use a metal detector to help identify an existing detectable marker only. I do not establish, verify, certify, or determine property boundaries. For a boundary question or legal survey, contact a licensed land surveyor.

How quickly can you respond?

I check messages frequently and may be available the same day or next day, including evenings and weekends. High-value and time-sensitive losses receive priority whenever scheduling allows.

What are the chances of actually finding my item?

Success depends on several factors: how soon you contact me after the loss, the accuracy of the location, and whether the item is still there. A systematic search can still be worthwhile after others have tried.

Do you find items in water or snow?

Yes. I use waterproof equipment and strong magnets for appropriate water recoveries, and I also search in snow and frozen ground across Nebraska and Iowa when conditions allow.

How should I prepare before you arrive?

Provide the most accurate location possible, recent photos of the area, and details about when and how the item was lost. Mark the general area if you can.

Will my yard or property be damaged?

I use precise probing and low-impact digging techniques. Holes are refilled neatly and turf is replaced whenever conditions allow. Respect for your property and privacy are priorities.

Do you work with The Ring Finders network?

Yes—I am a verified member of The Ring Finders, an international directory of professional metal-detecting recovery specialists.

What if you don't find it?

You pay no recovery reward for an unsuccessful lost-item search, other than any travel fee agreed in advance for a very remote location. I will still give you a report of the search and practical next steps.

What items do you commonly recover?

Wedding bands, engagement rings, family heirlooms, watches, keys, phones, property markers, survey markers, and larger lost tools or equipment on farms and job sites.
